Vintage Porcelain Coffee Pot – Limoges, c. 1970–1980

Elegant vintage coffee pot in white porcelain, probably made in Limoges around 1970–1980.

The piece features a tall, cylindrical, slightly curved body with a rounded shoulder and a perfectly fitted lid. The finely modelled spout extends naturally from the body and has a carefully shaped, slightly flared opening.

One of its most remarkable features is its very fine, elegantly arched handle. Set slightly apart from the body, it forms a long descending curve and ends in an elegant moulded return. Its slenderness, enhanced by the subtle raised detail running along its length, contrasts with the more generous volume of the pot, giving the piece a particularly light and refined silhouette.

The lid follows the same understated lines, with a slightly domed moulded finial. The piece is entirely white, without painted decoration, and has a glossy glaze that highlights the purity of the porcelain and the softness of its forms.

In terms of its silhouette and proportions, this piece may be considered a coffee pot, rather than a coffeepot in the strict sense. It is a fine example of a small French serving piece from the mid-20th century, where the quality of the porcelain and the care given to the forms take the place of decoration.
