Small glazed stoneware mug, with a slightly irregular cylindrical shape.

Its ivory white glaze, dotted with small brown and black speckles, contrasts with the unglazed stoneware base. The interior features the same glaze, with slight variations in hue due to firing.

A small, understated and tactile piece, characteristic of the work of Birgit Knupfer, a Danish ceramist based in La Borne. Hand-made, it combines formal simplicity with rich material. Born in Aarhus, Denmark in 1946, Birgit Knupfer first worked as a ceramist in her home country for about ten years before moving to France, first to the Morvan and then to La Borne, in the Cher department.
