A refined sauce boat on a stand in white Limoges porcelain, made by A. Giraud & Cie, a porcelain manufacturer based in Sauviat-sur-Vige, during the second half of the 20th century.

This elegant piece features a traditional sauce boat on stand, with the sauce boat permanently attached to its matching stand, forming a single, solid serving piece. Its gently shaped silhouette is enhanced by finely molded relief throughout.

The sauce boat has a generously flared form with softly curved sides and a finely undulating and scalloped rim. The graceful movement of the edge extends towards the ends of the piece, giving the overall silhouette an elegant, organic character.

The molded relief decoration is the principal decorative feature. The upper section is enhanced by a delicate frieze of small rounded and circular motifs beneath the rim, adding rhythm and emphasizing the softly undulating outline.

The lower section features broad, rounded panels separated by subtly modeled vertical lines. These raised sections create a graceful sense of volume and evoke the lobes of a stylized floral form. They transition into curving, stylized foliate motifs, creating a harmonious link between the body and the upper decorative frieze.

The stand continues the same decorative design, with an irregular, undulating and richly scalloped border. Its molded surface follows the shape of the sauce boat and creates a harmonious continuity between the two elements.

The entire piece is made of white porcelain with a glossy glaze. The absence of painted decoration allows the molded relief to take center stage, with the light subtly emphasizing the raised motifs, rounded forms and delicate undulations of the porcelain.
