Serving Platter – Decoration: Salmon & Co. – Manufacture F. Legrand – Limoges, c. 1925–1930
Description
An elegant Limoges porcelain serving platter, produced by the Manufacture F. Legrand around 1925–1930 and featuring a romantic floral pattern in delicate shades of pink and raspberry, known as “Salmon & Co”.
Made from glazed white porcelain, this round platter is distinguished by its generous central well and gently raised rim, accented with a fine gold line. The decoration centres on a bouquet of fully opened flowers, foliage and slender, sinuous stems, while several smaller floral arrangements are harmoniously distributed around the rim. The delicate drawing, nuanced pink tones and subtle shading lend the piece the floral elegance characteristic of tableware from the first half of the 20th century.
This piece illustrates the historic collaboration between two distinguished establishments in the Haute-Vienne region: the renowned Manufacture F. Legrand & Cie, responsible for producing the undecorated porcelain, and the independent Salmon & Co workshop, which provided the artistic decoration.
Both decorative and functional, this antique platter would make an elegant addition to a refined table setting, a mix-and-match porcelain service or a collection of Limoges porcelain.
