Pair of Porcelain Candlesticks – Unidentified Manufacturer – Limoges, c. 1950–1970

Pair of white Limoges porcelain candlesticks, featuring an elegant, slender silhouette with decorative detailing inspired by 18th-century French forms.

The two candlesticks are characterised by a slightly curved stem that gradually widens towards a broad, shaped base. The upper section forms a circular candle socket, finished with a wide, undulating and scalloped rim.

The decoration, entirely executed in white porcelain, consists of fine moulded reliefs: scrolls, volutes and stylised motifs embellish the stem, collar and outer edges of the bases. The small moulded feet and undulating contours further enhance the ornamental character of the pair.

The pieces are covered with a glossy white glaze, whose luminosity delicately highlights the relief decoration and variations in volume. No painted decoration or gilding interrupts the understated elegance of the white porcelain.

The underside bears a green mark reading “Limoges France”. This mark associates the pieces with the Limoges porcelain region but, on its own, does not allow the manufacturer to be identified with certainty.
