Set of Two Glazed Stoneware Tumblers – Faïencerie de Digoin, 2nd half of the 20th Century

A set of two glazed stoneware tumblers made by the Digoin pottery, under the Grespots mark, circa 1970–1980.

With their conical, slightly flared form, these tumblers feature a beautiful glaze in natural shades of beige, grey, brown and honey, with subtle speckled effects and variations in the glaze from one piece to the other. Fine horizontal throwing lines are visible on the exterior, emphasizing the simplicity of their form.

The interiors are fully glazed in deep brown tones, while the unglazed bases bear the impressed mark “Grespots Digoin Made in France”, accompanied by the pottery's emblem.

A sober and authentic set, characteristic of French utilitarian stoneware production in the second half of the 20th century. The variations in colour between the two pieces are inherent to the manufacturing process and contribute to their charm.
