Limoges Fine Porcelain Cup — Manufacture Jean Pouyat – Limoges, c. 1900

A very beautiful fine Limoges porcelain cup made by the Pouyat factory, remarkable for the particularly pure and luminous whiteness of its porcelain, one of the qualities that made the factory famous.

Around the rim, a composition of small pink and blue flowers, accompanied by foliage painted in soft tones, unfolds on this gleaming white porcelain background. The upper part is highlighted by two friezes of small raised elements, punctuated by gilded lines. The rim of the cup and the foot are also enhanced with a fine gold line.

The decor, both delicate and abundant, testifies to Limoges porcelain's taste for refined floral compositions and raised ornaments. The contrast between the richness of the decor and the optical purity of the porcelain's white gives this cup a very special elegance.

The reverse bears a mark attributed to the Pouyat factory.

Very good overall condition. Slight traces of use and age on the gilding, visible in the photographs.
