Covered Sugar Bowl & Milk Jug in Porcelain – Limoges, 2nd half of the 20th c.

A two-piece set in white glazed Limoges porcelain, comprising a large covered sugar bowl and a milk jug.

Both pieces feature a refined, generously curved form characteristic of a classically inspired table service. Their decoration, entirely executed in molded relief, enlivens the white porcelain with foliage and scrolling motifs. The particularly elaborate handles feature elegant curves and scrolls reminiscent of the Rocaille / Louis XV repertoire.

The sugar bowl is topped with a domed lid surmounted by an elegant floral or vegetal finial. The milk jug follows the same decorative vocabulary, with a sculpted handle and a carefully modeled pouring spout.

The set is distinguished by the simplicity of its white porcelain, enhanced by the subtle interplay of molded relief and glossy glaze.

There is no maker's mark or manufacturer's stamp on the underside. The manufacture therefore remains unidentified. The set can, with some caution, be dated to the second half of the 20th century, and is probably a Limoges porcelain production.

Very good overall condition, with the glossy glaze well preserved. No major defects apparent.
