Chinese-Style Ginger Jar – Manufacture Haviland – Limoges, 21st Century

Large lidded Chinese-style ginger jar in white Limoges porcelain, made by Manufacture Haviland.

This elegant piece adopts a traditional Chinese ginger jar form, with a generously rounded body, a slightly tapered lower section, a short flared neck and two richly modelled side handles in raised relief.

The domed lid is topped with a sculpted finial, also worked in relief. Its modelling is one of the principal decorative elements of the piece, although it is not possible to identify a specific representation with certainty.

Entirely made of white porcelain with a glossy glaze, the ginger jar has no painted decoration or gilding. This monochrome finish particularly highlights the volume of the body, the design of the handles, the moulded relief and the sculptural quality of the finial.

This ginger jar comes from a factory clearance. It was classified as a second-quality piece when it left the factory. It remains in its original condition and may display minor characteristics or irregularities associated with its classification, but remains new and without apparent defects.
