Pair of Glazed Stoneware Vases – France, circa 1970

A pair of small glazed stoneware vases, made in France in the 1970s.

With an ovoid, slightly conical shape, the two pieces have a simple and balanced silhouette, enhanced by a richly nuanced glaze. Olive, brown, ocher, and earthy tones blend with numerous speckled effects and firing variations, giving each vase a particularly expressive surface. The slight differences in shape and glaze between the two pieces attest to their artisanal craftsmanship.

These vases come from an old production stock of a French ceramic workshop, acquired at a market in Martel, Lot. The original workshop has not been identified; therefore, no more precise attribution is offered.
