Cup and Saucer – Manufacture Jean Pouyat – Limoges, c. 1900-1910

This cup and saucer feature a continuous, meticulously detailed decoration of pink roses, stylized foliage, and small white flowers. The circular arrangement of the pattern creates a wreath-like effect that completely envelops the object. The fineness of the drawing, the abundance of details, and the delicate gold highlights attest to the craftsmanship of Limoges porcelain workshops at the beginning of the 20th century. Unlike the airy and naturalistic compositions of some contemporaries, this decoration favors continuous ornamentation and decorative richness, transforming the utilitarian object into a true floral jewel box. A delicate and very decorative piece, ideal for a collection of antique porcelains.

The "J.P.L. France" mark attributes this piece to the Jean Pouyat factory, one of the most important Limoges porcelain houses at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. The decoration reflects the Belle Époque's taste for luxuriant floral compositions and refined table arts.
