Celadon Porcelain Compote – Manufacture Haviland – Early 21st Century.

Celadon porcelain two-handled footed bowl, body-tinted, from the Haviland factory in Limoges, made at the beginning of the 21st century. From a factory destocking, this piece has a generous and elegant form, entirely covered with a very delicate celadon enamel.

The widely flared bowl rests on a slightly curved circular foot. Two sculptural side handles, punctuated by small bulges, punctuate the silhouette and give it a particular presence.

The celadon, here particularly subtle, reveals the volumes of the porcelain through slight variations in shade and by the play of light on the enameled surface. The paste itself is tinted, and the color thus belongs to the porcelain material rather than to an applied decoration.

This use of celadon is part of the chromatic history of the Haviland factory, which explored different shades of colored pastes and enamels throughout the 20th century. This contemporary piece offers a sober, luminous and timeless interpretation.

A piece that is both decorative and functional, it can be used as a presentation bowl, fruit bowl or centerpiece, combining the traditional know-how of Limoges porcelain with a refined aesthetic.
